Thanks! How long does a Volvo clutch usually last? I believe it's on its original.

That bar might come in handy for the EuroVan timing chain job. :)

Nearly bought an SEC about 25 years ago. Always loved the lines. The only one available looked good initially but the rear parcel shelf was rotten which they like to do. Car was about 8 years old!

I'm not allowed to have the 'dead' car area. Maybe when we move in a couple of years I may have enough space for that. Or if the youngest can be persuaded to move out I will have an extra space in the garage!! Oh, that won't work as we already have another Volvo sitting outside to fill that....Hmmm!

Neil.

I drove that SEC as a daily driver through europe for quite some time. It was green, rusty, dented and dirty. and yes. rotten parcel shelf. :) they always leak at the back window. But it went like mad and cruised like a king. Seeing that nose rise and stay up from 0 to 240kmh. :o Having fun with the friendly German Zoll polizei, while the drugdog was sniffing out the dutch pimp/drugdealer car.. again.. and again.. :D Good times.
It went to Poland to be restored about a month ago. After standing on that same spot since 2010ish. Hope it will have a good third life.

I suspect my 850 clutch was never changed. And pedal was allready low when I got it at 250000. Still easily squeezed another 100000kms on it. Now it always squeeks in first and second gear when cold though.

Thanks a lot abscate!! If you would have a nice head for a 2litre t5, I would be very interested :) But I guess it just comes down to saving some money and getting my hands greasy ;)
For now.. Its good there.

Some Benz pictures for old times sake.. 2009 in front of the garage at family holidayhouse in Hungary. Loved those sheepskin seat covers..
