1994 850 battery life with out alternator

Hi Guys,
My nephews are stranded in NE. Pa with a bad alternator. How many hours will a NA 850 run with a new fully charged battery with all other voltage drains shut off like headlights, radio and heater blower? MY hope is to get them back to Ohio. I have a serviceable alternator in the basement. The shop where they are stranded is quoting a price of $600.00 for alternator replacement. This does not count the $220.00 battery they have installed.

I'm going swag this at

5 amps fuel pump
2 amps for coil
5 amps stuff I haven't thought of

80 amp hour battery/12 amps = 6 hours to full discharge

At 3 hours battery voltage will drop to where things will stop working.

3 hours max, no lights , stereo, wipers

You could have them buy a 10'amp charger, extension cord, and motor back over a couple of days

We didn’t get a better swag but I just wanted to comment that no one has ever succeeded in getting home running a Honda generator in the back seat with a 12 v feed to the battery and posted it here.

No abscate but I did try to get a portable home a/c unit running in my backseat by using a 1000W AC inverter. Unfortunately the power from my inverter wasn't "clean" enough or it was badly rated to run the unit and it wouldn't operate.

Ah , but Canadians are subject to indignities as inpetulant toddler neighbors, half price medical care for everyone, and DRLs....daytime running lights,,which drain the battery fast.

I had an alternator die on me and I bought a new battery. It got me home the last 100 miles. Since I had to get to work the next day I alternated batteries. I charged one while I was at work and then swapped it out each day until I put in a new alternator. Turn off EVERYTHING you do not need when driving without an alternator. Don't drive at night. Headlight will drain your battery fast.

Don't lie, that was your anti-theft system. And a good system it was
