When it comes to MAF, use only Bosch, which is OEM for Volvo.

MAF code will set any time the air mass measured by the sensor isn't what is expected for current conditions and fuel metering based on the oxygen sensor to maintain proper air/fuel ratio. There's a host of other issues that can trigger the MAF code. Which doesn't necessarily mean the MAF itself is bad. Basically anything that can potentially add, subtract, or restrict the air through the intake (after the sensor) can set this code.

I've run into this before, where I have someone else pull codes at they get P0101. When I pull them myself, I get P0101 and usually a cylinder misfire code also. You could have a failing ignition coil or failing/fouled spark plug. Rarely has cleaning/replacing the MAF fixed by issues. It's usually a coil or plug. Easy to fix, and most code readers will tell you which cylinder.

I thank you guys for the information. I will start with plugs as they are probably pass due and what ever else in the breathing area for the motor. This Volvo has been pretty trouble free for a few years.
I am thinking Volvo plugs only or what? I will have code read again today by another parts house and go from there.

I have had excellent results using NGK BKR6ES plugs. You'll like the price also. :) Don't let the parts house talk you into buying the latest flavor of the month designer plugs. (They'll try)

I bit the bullet and stopped by Volvo express. If you have to ask the price, you can't afford them. Five new plugs are waiting to be installed. This may be the first replacement, not sure, but I am at 142,000. They will run the codes for me at $128.00. See what happens this weekend.
Thanks everyone.

The problem has been averted for awhile. New plugs and an AIR FILTER did the trick for now. Service was needed on the air filter. Note to self is to not forget simple maintenance.
Service lite reset by itself.
