Cannot refit stop light

I'm trying to get the black bulb holder back into the stop light section. No matter what I do, it is in such an awkward spot that I cannot get the holey on place to twist it and lock it in place.
Any tricks to do this?

I'm having the exact same problem with my right side blinker. It came out real easily but the lugs and electric contacts are not smoothly designed.

It might work to hold the bulb holder with a pair of channel lock pliers if it’s not a straight shot in. Or a pair of needle nose if it IS a straight shot. That will also give you plenty of leverage to twist it but be careful not to twist it too hard.

Ok. Now I've broken the little metal tab behind where the electric connector plug is. The indicator light has stopped working. Maybe there's a way to solder this?

Which tab?
"..behind" means what?
What indicator? The one in the dash board? The light itself?

Are you talking about the electric contact of the fixture itself? ...Or the wee contact tab on the removable socket?

Can you bypass the grey connector plug and just hardwire the lights to the wires?

The metal connector at the bottom of this photo under the grey plastic is loose. I also bent, and tried to straighten, the pins going into the grey connector.

I hate to say this but...since the metal contacts have been bent or damaged(?) it might be time to remove the light fixture so you can work on it precisely.
To make electrical contacts so shoddily is unforgivable. Best of luck.

In my case it's still too cold to go out and play with this junk. This week I hit it.
