Inner tie rod id 98 v70

On my wife's V70 I suspect that the inner tie rods may be bad- the boots are torn, the issue is the rack came from another car a few years back so I don't know which one it is, is there a way to tell if it is a 4 or 5 ?

on the underside of the rack (where the pinion gear is) you will see a rectangular or round plate. I'll edit this after I go look at my spare TRW.

1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

From another (OLD) post on another forum, ABS guru Matty Moo says "Below is an SMI inner tie-rod, and it's notched for a wrench. A TRW inner is round without being set up for a wrench." Torn boots on inner tie rods doesn't neccessarily mean that they are bad.
If they are bad they would have play in them and would make knocking noise just like outer ones.
Visual inspection will tell you nothing.

Misho is correct, I had the same issue.
I used a syringe to insert some grease in the bellows, then I sealed it with silicon. It's been fine every since, as long as you catch it early.
It's just a dust boot that sees very little movement.
