205/60/16 Tires 98 V70

I went to pick up new tires for the wifes 98 V70 FWD I was all ready for the stock 205/55/16 then saw they had 7 205/60/16 ones less than half the price I was paying for the others. would these fit or are they going to rub ?

They will fit, if they will install them. What does the gas door list?

Both are the same width 205mm, horizontal clearance is the same

The /55/ has a sidewall high of 205mm * .55 = 112.75mm
The /60/ has a sidewall high of 205mm * .60 = 123.00mm
A difference of 10.25mm. As long as you can spare a radial clearance of 10.25mm from the center of the wheel, they will not rub.

The /60/ are 20.5mm taller (diameter) then the /55/. With the /60/ the true speed will be 3.23% higher the what the speedometer indicates unless, you reprogram the ECM for the 205/60/16.

3.23% would be 103.23 Kph when the speedometer reads 100 Kph.

The speed differential is marginal, the main thing to check is that the tire does not rub on the underside of the strut lower spring mount. It is worth checking as I think someone raise that question in the last year on same tire size (I think) and they said they were ok. This was the thread:

I'm affraid that they will rub at front strut.
Gas door says 205/60/15...not 16"...if i remember right.
They might fit...if they would that would be pretty tight fit.
For awd it wouldn't be a problem because they have more clearence than fwd cars.

You might be alright. My cousin is running 225/45R16 on his S70 riding on iPd lowering springs, and he is only rubbing a little bit. I think at stock ride height, the 205/60R16 should probably clear. They large sidewall will just look a little weird.

I decided to buy the original size- and 8 of these other ones- they worked out to $23.14 each for Hankook Ipike- put them on KIJIJI for 80$ each and have 3 folks coming to buy them today- thanks

Only one person showed up but they took all 8 it was some weird store only Canadian Tire deal-and only that size- so I am into my new tires with mounting for $155 or therebouts can't complain about that- now the fact that I have to replace struts this weekend and it will be -6 or so I can complain about
