P80 radiator grille cover for cold temps.

I have looked for a long time to find even a picture of this mythical part and I have finally found one. If you go to page 345 of this brochure (the climate section) it has a picture in all it's glory! Now if I could only find one!!

You could probably make your own out of some thin acrylic.

What an odd day. I opened the link and randomly scrolled down far before the download was finished. I landed on p. 359 which are the ugly terra wheels from the '00 XC, which are currently sitting in my basement since I switched them out for some Naiads (p.357).

It took me awhile to figure out the clear cover on the grill. And to think, this weekend we had the whipping snow/ice storm and I opened my hood to find snow in the corners and edges of my engine bay. Totally would have come in handy, although it would not stop the fact that I am about to change the heater core.

Yup love all the weird stuff you find was available. Problem is it will send me off on a hunt for these strange and hard to find parts just for the fun of it!

From what I see - is this literally just a clean plastic block off plate that fits over the grill on the car?

Thinking of taking a piece of acrylic or plexi-glass and laser cutting it to match, then toss on some zip ties to secure.

Don't need it today as its warm out (at or just above freezing)

One thing to note is they don't seem to list it for turbo engines for some reason which is weird as they are the ones most affected by very low temps. Be careful at above about -10C (F?) and watch engine temp carefully. It may be you would have to add a few slots to allow some air to pass for turbos.

i use a piece of coroplast with zipties- I do have some thin perspex that would work - the fasteners would be tricky though- and my 850 has an IPD mesh grille so it would be even tougher, barely need it though it was only -25 on the drive this am

For the P80s it would be easy enough to fit something behind the grille as well since that area is exposed when opening the bonnet. More discreet and perhaps easier to fit it to something.

Sure we can use bits of plastic/cardboard/whatever material. I have use cardboard and zip-ties through the grill. But I love searching for these rare and weird accessories. When you retire you find you need to keep the 2 grey cells busy!!!

I love that catalog- it gives me something to hope to find at picknpull-my 740 had so many of them it was like an advertisement- I really want that storage box that mounts in the right rear and the notepad where the cupholders are
