I'm betting it was exhaust valves that were replaced and not "pistons" as noted. Unless you had a catastrophic timing belt failure there's virtually no need to replace pistons.

Just checking in. This was the last major repair I had done on the car and since then have only had tires, a tie rod, front brakes and regular oil changes. Still running like a new one and just turned 180,000 miles and the body is in excellent condition. (I know - I don't drive that much.) It was definitely worth the repair.

this happened to me and a bolt got stuck in the block when the head was taken off, so no go on any repair.

I always thought the valve blew because of a too lean injector, and wished I would have changed the injectors at 150K miles. I still have an 850 and when my son had the car, one of the injectors was flooding the engine. now it runs well with an new matched set of injectors.
