2006 V70 Base, Jiggling passenger side mirror glass

Passenger side mirror glass does not appear to be stable in the mirror housing. Looks like it is vibrating around. Have not investigated closely.

Possible causes?

If it's like my 2001 (I'm assuming yes), the mirror has multiple attachment points to the mirror adjust plate. Most likely, one or more became disconnected, or has broken. Try to put a little force on the mirror, pushing towards the housing. Not too much, you don't want to break the mirror. If it popped loose, you may get it to reseat. If something broke, you'll need new parts. I think IDP sells some of the connectors.

It may have popped out as mentioned above. Try not to do this is very cold weather as the plastic gets brittle.

On mine the glass was peeling off the backing plate, as I touched it the glass came away in my hand.
I glued it in place with goop.

I had a driver side one that was jiggly. Same thing, adhesive layer was letting go. I didn't know and assumed the positioning mechanism was loose/nothing to worry about.
I still can't believe I happened to look at it in it's final moments, got the window down, and caught it as it fell away.
I used loctite marine epoxy to stick it back.

Glass detaching makes indeed more sense and bad glue is not uncommon. If the plastic hook was detached the whole mirror would have just felt from there. Just careful with the glue type if the glass is equipped with the heating element

That's why I opted for a self curing two part epoxy resin as opposed to something that has acetone or other light volatiles. I was also concerned that solvents in regular adhesives might damage the mirror reflective layer on the back side of the glass. According to the packaging, their marine epoxy stays flexible which hopefully should tolerate thermal expansion. And seems to conduct heat well, the driver side mirror defrosts much faster than the passenger side that still has the double stick tape that looks like poly foam with contact adhesive (which would have insulating properties).
