Replacing thermostat

Post by thomlep »

Hello,
For a 2008 V70 3.2, can somebody please provide a basic description of replacing a thermostat? I'm mainly interested in how many engine parts need to be removed to gain access to the thermostat assembly. Are we talking about any special tools or removing the serp belt?

Thanks for any pointers.

It looks like you need to remove the intake manifold to access the removal of the thermostat housing. Naturally you will need to remove the intake air piping before you remove the intake. 17Nm torque on the intake and 10Nm torque on the thermostat housing.

Thank you. The intake manifold means a new gasket and torque wrench. Through the looking glass and down the rabbit hole I step.
