Why would a core clog? I have never had this happen in any Volvo in 40+ years. This would only occur when cheapskates use high calcium tap water instead of de-ionised water. Serves them right for Volvo abuse!

If the car has rubber heater hoses, flip the hoses to the heater core periodically as preventive maintenance.

I could see someone using radiator sealant as a potential hazard as well.

I've always changed the coolant when I've bought the cars and usually it has looked terrible but with no other issues that I've noticed.

Wrong coolant from a shady mechanic, or a mixture of wrong coolants. Or indeed water from the hose mixed with coolant (looks like the case in the video, see the deposits at the hose connection at the firewall)

That has to be one of the most annoying videos ever.

Also like how his heater core hoses are blowing coolant after he replaces them.

VIDA pretty much says "You can use tap water if it fulfills *detailed criteria*. If unsure, don't." I'd say that means "no" for most people

It's hard to use a "wrong" coolant but mixing different kinds can sure be nasty..

It is indeed. I'd say even ready to use coolant is quite cheap insurance if the alternative is trouble with the cooling system.

Correct. Sounds like VIDA is expecting owners to take the tap water for analysis

Unless perhaps living on Beverly Hills (just a wild guess), tap water is always more or less hard and it will leave deposits. Suffice to look inside the bathroom near the sink faucets, for white traces of lime (calcium) deposits. Wouldn't want these near my water pump
