I've used only Amsoil ATF in both of my MT's, the 93 850 since 2008. When I bought the cars I drained/filled with Amsoil to flush, then after 500 miles another drain and fill. Shifting is smooth in all weather. The slight first gear whine in my 93 went away with the Amsoil.

Volvo doesn't make its own; they probably contract with Amsoil.

Hi, I happen to have this oil: http://www.mpmoil.nl/products/index.php ... anguage=en
as I was about to change the oil on my Mercedes automatic gearbox. Then I sold the car before I did it, so I have about 10 liters of this stuff.
Now I need to replace the oil in my Volvo S70 gearbox (M56) and so I was thinking maybe I can use this oil instead? It was quite expensive, so I think it's good quality but I'm not sure what specifications it has. Don't know if anyone here can confirm or deny? I have emailed the company, not gotten answers yet.

I would use a gear oil, not a light ATF oil in your M56

Sell the ATF on eBay to someone else.

I agree with abscate here. That ATF does not say it is GL-4 compatible (or even GL-5/GL-4 backwards compatible). I wouldn't put it in our transmissions... It'll either be too slick, not slick enough, or it'll introduce something that will cause wear.

I use Volvo oil.
I've used Redline and Mobil. No difference in shift quality so since I get Volvo parts for cost +10%, and no shipping... I use Volvo fluids since they're right around the corner from me.
Time saver!

For those who have replaced their MTF, did you find that you needed a 3rd bottle to fully top off the 2.1L capacity? Or is the remaining .1L usually made up by fluid that doesn't fully drain? I have 2 bottles of Genuine Volvo 31280771 and am deciding whether to purchase a 3rd before I start the job.

You can Run it 100 ml short. In the summer,it will expand anyway. You could always filter your old stuff and top,off

I have replaced mine but don't recall needing a third bottle. If memory serves me right I had a little left over even.

Yes, I could only get 2L in there, too.
