Upgrading to Navigation on a non-nav car
Upgrading to Navigation on a non-nav car
Has anyone replaced a non-nav radio with a nav unit? I found a navigation radio from a scrapped C60 same year as my S60 with control panel. Dealer obviously says it can't be done, which is a challenge to me to do it.
Hello,
I have XC60 from 2009 (model year 2010) that come without the factory mounted gps, and park assist camera, so instead of nice color screen, i have big plastic panel, aand small screen above for park sensors.
So i was tinking on upgrading and to put some color into my life.
Talk to the dealer and got the same info as you did, "cant be done".
so i've started to dig on the forums, and i found that it might be true, there is some MOST network, that verifies vin in the multimedia devices to match, and if any of the device vin will not match, it will lock the MOST network and shut itself down.
That was verified by me, in my VIDA/DiCE that i could see that Most network is "closed". but, apparently, if the Most network will be set to "open" state, non matching device can be used. Thing is, that apparently VOLVO dealers, have strict policy, on not leaving that in "open" state.
All that said, i've learned from the mighty internets, and got dumbfolded, when i took apart some of the paneling off the dashboard, because I've learned that my stock cd player, is from junkyard, from 2009 v70
(i'm second owner of this car, and as per original owner, nothing was changed in the vechicle since he had it - obvious lie, but...)
So it seems that it CAN be done, but i still do not know "how"... (of course there will be some additional software download, but i do not know if that will help with the MOST thingy)
