in a bit of time crunch so cross-posting from swedespeed, please forgive me. and i couldn't find it in vida.
'05 xc70 shift lever is busted and need to replace. specifically, the trigger mechanism. the old lever is out and a new one is on the way. followed this vid for the disassembly (a bit long but good detail),
wondering how the new shifter gets installed? is it just a simple dropping/popping into place on the shaft? i was able to rig the trigger my broken shifter so it works temporarily. however, after i reinstalled the rigged lever, i'm able to shift between gears without the trigger? basically the trigger lock is not working.
when i go to install the new lever, wondering if there is something special that needs to be done?
shift lever replacement, trigger lock mechanism, '05 xc70

problem solved.
nothing special required. must have been that because my shift lever was broken it did not seat properly. installed the new one and popped into place and works like it should.
the part came with directions and nothing special mentioned in the doc.
