It's like 15 miles each way to work, plus one long trip (90 miles each way) I've gotta make before the end of the week to get my w2s from an old job. They refused to do anything until I get that ball joint replaced

Ran into a couple more problems and got them fixed. Long story short if your control arm doesn't look exactly like the one you take off, figure it out before putting it on! Could have saved me the price of an axle, the growth of my list of body parts to fix on the Volvo, and one very scary dangerous incident. At the bottom of the driveway.

Turns out the duralast part I settled on needed the boot pushed down to allow the control arm to fit properly into it's joint.

Ouch. Ball joint pop out? Much better at low speed than high. Death

Yeah it was frightening enough 15mph, I felt like an idiot when I realized my mistake, it's definitely secure now but I'm entirely pissed at myself for letting it happen, could have ended a lot worse for me, plus I don't know where to source these trim parts I busted up with the wheel.

Pick and pull. There are a couple of good websites to get part numbers and pieces straight

I tend to look at row52, sometimes they have pictures of the vehicles in the yard so you can decide if its the right color and a general sense of the condition. Also searching car-part. com I have had good luck searching for a simple part like a hood and sort the list by closest yard and some of them will post several pictures of the vehicles they have which is great when looking for exterior fenders and so forth. That site is not limited to pick and pulls.

Yeah I'm very familiar with the pick n pull near me, unfortunately that means I know they don't have any wagons with this body style right now and certainty not this red color, I need the bottom strip that runs all the way back, I'm actually thinking about going black with it and replacing both sides to add a personal touch if I order it online, problem is I'm not sure what the piece is called

If you mean the plastic cover panel that goes over the rocker panels and under the doors, for a FWD Volvo (and AWD), Volvo just calls it a Dirt Deflector mould (?). Note V70 XC has different panel part numbers.

For FWD LHS: #9178164

For FWD RHS: #9178490

I call them rocker panel covers.

Is your car this color (if link works):

http://row52.com/Vehicle/Index/YV1LW5720T2244024

It would appear 850 parts don't fit but is may be they have a different profile, and it is just the part number that doesn't fit!

Hey Gtin, its been a little over a year since your steering rack replacement. How has it held up?
