Tore apart a section of my main harness under the passenger headlight to inspect wires... and put it back together because it's too stressful to look at. I was hoping to find a frayed wire that could be contributing to the hesitation that's seemed to have gotten worse recently, but I decided it's not worth trying to track it down. I realized I'll just fix the small things wrong with this car and drive it as is until I find a cheap 850R/T-5R to build.
Either that or just start throwing parts at it that could be a problem. Maybe a new MAF, O2 sensors, new crank and cam sensors...

This afternoon, I fiddled with the wonky right turn signal housing, which is missing two of the three tabs that hold it in place. The previous owner had rigged it with fishing line and tied it to the clips that hold the headlight lens on place. Of course, I snapped it, so I took some twine and reattached it to the metal bracket on the fender wall that holds some electrical cables. Then went to work!

Checked for some vacuum leaks again today... nothing to be found. I think my car just has a nervous tick... I have no idea why it stutters like it does.

Rear defroster grid had stopped working a couple weeks ago. Pulled everything apart, started pulling on the Y R wire to try to probe it closer to the tailgate coming from the harness connection on the rear of the car and it came out in my hand. Made a small bypass harness until the weather gets better. Looks like it is 12 or 10 gauge.

That tailgate harness is evil. I tidied it up today with some 3/8" wire wrap instead of the 1/2" I had on it before. Tight fit around the wires, but it doesn't rub when I open and close the tailgate anymore. Much cleaner!
I tried searching for a short somewhere for what seems like the 20th time, but I can't find anything wrong. I wish I could just unlock my tailgate without setting off my alarm. And figure out my cruise control... but I have a feeling that doesn't have anything to do with my tailgate harness.

So, apparently I still don't have +12v at the rear again - but the switch and relay must be working as both front mirrors did heat to ~120 F. Rear sat at 28 F and did not increase. When I checked it earlier (during the bypass) I had 12v at the rear.

Is there a separate fuse and/or fusible link hiding somewhere for the rear that the mirrors aren't on?

Tomorrow I'll disconnect both sides of the grid and see if I get resistance. Looks like the left side is +12v and the right side is grounded. I cannot imagine that all of the elements are bad - unless it somehow blew when my headlights and fog-lights did with the bad alternator.

Time to dig into the diagram. There is a surprising amount of stuff that rear harness Can fubar. Recall my finding that a fault back there takes out the immobiliser

There is a junction box (?) under the dash that runs to the tailgate loom. Do you have a wiring diagram? I can post one up if that's allowed. I think it's only mods that can't post diagrams, but I'm not sure.

The diagram I've been attempting to look at doesn't scale well on my machine - from all data.
