Well, the replacement showed up today, p1671 the second I started it. Thanks eBay!

Is it much of a pain to check the timing? I’m familiar with how it works but I’ve never had this car apart.

JUst put good White out on the marks and turn the engine over slowly to see if the lineup

Best done with spark plugs out

ECM-6400 (P1671) Camshaft reset valve.

Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information

D2800346 Condition
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-6400 is stored if the engine control module (ECM) registers a fault in the signal cable to the camshaft reset valve.

Substitute value
shutting off the variable camshaft

Possible sources:

Signal too high:
  • short-circuit to supply voltage in the signal cable
    defective camshaft reset valve
Signal too low:
  • short-circuit to ground in the signal cable
    power supply cable short-circuited to ground
    defective camshaft reset valve
    contact resistance
    open-circuit in the signal cable
    open-circuit in the power supply cable
Fault symptoms
malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) lit
uneven idle

Checked timing today, it’s spot on. Thankfully the dealership who last did the timing belt made super obvious marks.
