He might just not want to store the car and pats. That’s a big part of parting out cars, obviously.
There’s probably $200 in the headlights, which appear to be jewels, one corner is standard and the other is either a jewel or missing the lens so not worth much, $100 for the taillights $70 for the grille, interior parts are probably another $150. Then another couple hundred for random engines parts and whatnot, $150 for the transmission, and probably $300 for the wheels.
That’s about $1k before maybe $50 for scrap if you’re patient and have the space. But then you also have to account for transportation costs, and the time it takes to remove everything.
What did you do to your Volvo today? Topic is solved

Did the glove test today because of oil loss. It inflated right away.
Had the pcv system replaced a bit over a year ago by local indy. I think they (and I) didn't know at that time that the port in engine block itself needs cleaning as well. Just called and they will look into cleaning the port when it's due for an oil change in a few weeks. Any other tips I can give them for cleaning the port? Can't do it myself unfortunately: no garage/driveway. Tinkering is not allowed in the street in my area...

If you did not already do so, pull the dipstick out slightly to relieve pressure in the crankcase. Wrap a cloth around it to reduce chances of oil spill and it may also help reduce the oil smell in the cabin. Driving the car like this is likely to blow oil seals and if the rear main goes it gets very expensive!

Thanks Neil, adding cloth is a great tip! I drove around with a homemade contraption in januari 2016: I had lost 2 liters of oil while driving 1000km on holiday. I then found out (thanks to this forum) about the PCV system being a weak spot on these cars.
To avoid losing oil on the rest of the trip, I pulled the dipstick out entirely. This made the cabin smell so bad that I created a 'siphon' underneath the car for the rest of the trip. Ingredients: garden hose (conmected to dipstick tube), duct tape and a perdorated plastic bottle (hanging underneath the car to catch oil spill om the other end of the hose)
Your temporary solution sounds more elegant though! Will try if that reduces the smell.

I recently did a bigger job on the engine which included taking the oil pan off. Had it cleaned by the machine shop while they were doing the head. Looks pretty nice I guess, never thought about it. I only care about it being clean on the inside
