Re: P80 passengers and driver seat swap

Post by abscate »

Found the release buttons for the head restraint. Not intuitive but got good pictures for posterior/ity

The seat bottom foams are swappable, the seat back foams are not due to the SIPPS cutout

This thread will turn into the skin swap thread, or something else which is safe for work

Well I got it done today

I swapped both skins and also put the passenger side seat bottom from my parts car into the driver side of my 1999

As comfortable as the P80'seat was before , I can feel the difference of a new seat bottom that hasn't had my fat a$$ on it for 200,000 miles

And, just saying....
Nasty old seat

Whilst I can't possibly comment on the posterior issue on the seat (old saying of look in the mirror before commenting!!Ahem), glad you got the set figured out. It is amazing how the change is foam makes such a difference. I did the same with the V70 NA, swapping the passenger seat from a PnP car with the foam and seat heater. Huge difference, and once you figure out how, it is not a terrible job, particularly when I have the hog rings and a couple of different hog ring pliers.

Well, my $500 parts car just gave me another $460 of good leather skins and a
LIke new seat base which will nice on my April travels.

I used zip ties but went with 4 inch...much too short. 6 inches would have been a lot easier.

Here's a picture of what toy are doing to release the headrests...

Wow the seat looks great! I think he paid in the neighborhood of $460 for just the bottom seatcover and about the same for the back. So for both seatcovers your parts car saved around a grand. June

I might have to swap the foam on my driver's seat at some point. It's not drastically flattened or anything like my cousin's T5, but it's a little tired. That's probably why my P80's seats hurt my back when they really shouldn't.

Try to grab a passenger car seat since they tend to be lightly used. I spent 4 hours stripping the seat and installing the new. 4 hours straight of hard hand work
