Broken 850 Seatbelt Release Buttons Topic is solved

Both front seatbelt release buttons on my 1994 850 wagon (9/93 build date) have 1/4 inch holes in the middle. It just turned 117K but the red plastic buttons are thin and brittle. Any suggestions on a fix other than swapping out from a P&P which leaves me a little squeamish? I'm afraid if I wait too long, the rest will crumble and I'll have a bigger problem. I know I can't be the only one with this issue. Thanks again.

Well you could always buy new if they are still available for your year. Otherwise PnP/junkyard is your best bet. Why does that make you squeamish? Remove them while wearing gloves and clean off with disinfectant, then install.

Germs aren't a problem but stretched or decayed belts would be. Thinking about maybe gluing something on top of the red buttons before it's too far gone.

If it's only the red button that has a hole in it, then it can be replaced.

A piece of red plastic from the top of a land o lakes canola oil butter container , cut with scissors, and superglued on. Almost a perfect color match

I repair a lot of plastic things by walking around the grocery store and then buying a new food to get the container. You also get to try new recipes , although my anchovie coffee still hasn’t hit big yet

He speaks the truth, believe my alternator got a temporary shield made from a plastic dish to avoid power steering fluid saturation =)

I seem to remember someone having 3D printed new release buttons and offered them for sale on this board. I can't remember who, though.

Found a simple and cheap solution on ebay for $3.08 with free shipping. They are called 2PC Black Universal Car Safety Seat Belt Buckle Clip Adjust Extender (192045081830). If this hadn't been found, I would have tried the "land o lakes" route. Again, thanks for all the creative ideas. Hope this helps others.
