Dim swap compatibility

Post by Daveliz99 »

2001 Volvo V70 2.4T

Passing through a junkyard the other day I saw an S60 with a dim cluster that had chrome rings around the gauges. I think it may have been a 2003 or 2004.

Can I swap mine out for one of those? I just thought it looked better...

In theory, that is a 2004+ and will not work on your 2001.

You can fit chrome rings in yours though. Not sure if those from a newer dim will fit as they are but there are aftermarket ringa as well.

I tried to fit the silver rings on my 2003 but it didn't work, the area around the gauges has a diameter juust slightly larger than the rings for some reason. But one may try to perhaps swap the whole housing of the DIM (with the cluster, gauges, glass and white cover), and just keep the original circuit board. Haven't checked myself if it fits.

So those with rings only came on 2004+?

That's a little more than I wanted to do lol, may try the after market though. I was just looking for a quick and easy dress up

Maybe if someone else chimes in and has done it before, but I'm no pioneer of these things.

Dim with silver rings pn: 8673262/263... it works with 50% success rate instead of pn: 8637996/993, I probably didn't research why, but I had more success only with 2001. In 2002-3, maybe not a single one worked for me... (maybe I was lucky in the content and equipment of the model).. pcb don't even try to change too many differences only for DIYers.. (change all alarm clocks together.. they have different shades of transparency) for programming dim with silvert ring is readable on both masks but use DASH YAZAKI 0L85D otherwise you will die, and at CanBus Dim does not communicate
