Adaptation geartronic impossible

Post by phdouche »

Hi everyone

I had bad experiences with mi geartronic on mi c30 d5, i've been rebuilding it entirely ( mecanical and electronic all replace ) after it i tried many times without any success to reset the adaptation, last night i passed 3 hours on road with the VIDA to try resetting the adaptation and doing a fresh new one, but it failed.
The only time it works it is on the upshift between 2 and 3 gear at nearly all the rev ( 1000, 1200, 1600 ....) but for the other gear never had any flash light at mi dashboard.
i also tried to do all the adaptation without driving, without any success.

Actually the symptoms are: harsh R engagement same for D , harsh engagement between 1/2 4/5 , between 3 and 4 gear i have to stop idling between gear and downshifting delays from 3 to 2 gear.

any idea about what i'm missing guys ?

thanks

Welcome to the Forums!

I would start with checking the fluid condition and correct level...
By the way, which mechanical and electronic components did you have to replace?

Not sure what you mean by "tried to do all the adaptation without driving"...
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.

Yes, the "adaptives" are reset by with a specific drive cycle unless you mean something else.

Hi thanks for answering
The gearbox is fully rebuild electrical mechanical and solenoid brand new, so the fluids are also brand new.
Someone told me that I could have a problem with few new solenoids

In vida when you put the gearbox in adaptative mode you first have the option to drive with the car for the adaptation of the different gear, but there is also an adaptation between P and R it's written on the Vida the adaptation doesn't work as well

I believe the P-R-N-D adaptation (so called "garage shifts") was to be done as soon as the relearn of 1-2-3-4-5 up/downshifts is completed; the car is parked with brake applied, the engine is still ON; the TCM will stay in adaptation mode ("Transmission Too Hot" message on DIM) until you key down.
At least this has always worked for me - no issues whatsoever.
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
