Don't they have a way in the 98's to determine which switch/sensor is causing the alarm similar to the '99?

Yup. Fixed that wire 3 times.

I know it’s the tailgate latch, it goes off after I open the tailgate when I unlock it with the key.
This tailgate harness if driving me nuts!

I think that’s normal function. The fob or the driver door disable the alarm, the trunk lid does not

did you grab the ecu by chance, sounds like stage III with a 19t and exhaust/intercooler upgrades. What about the injectors?

It's ME7, so I did not grab the ECU. I don't know what's entailed in re-coding it to a different car.
It had blues, and I didn't grab them. I do plan on getting them next time if they're still there, though.

New coolant reservoir and sensor (bye coolant light) and tidied up the mess of dry rotted wire loom under the top cover. Timing belt job this coming week and hoping to hit 300,000 miles shortly.
