I got my CEM/ECM back from xemodex, trying to connect VIDA/DICE again. In the meantime I just noticed there was a 25amp fuse for the AWD system in rear fuse box. That was the original reason I took the car to the shop, and they said they fixed it with the fuse. It's supposed to be a 7.5amp fuse. It's easy to imagine that there was some deeper electrical problem that replacing the fuse covered up, and it being a fuse rated for more than 3x the current... some damage could've been done on that test drive.

Shit

The AWD is usually the pmp or the DEM. Not bad to replaced (not all used DEM fit, Xemodex may have a #number compatibility list)

I disconnected the DEM and engine still will not start. VIDA still cannot read anything from the DICE box. I get blinking lights indicative of a good connection, but absolutely no reading ever. Nothing with other OBDII sensors either.

Plug the DiCE into a USB port and use the stand alone DiCE diagnostics application to find out if DiCE is working.
If DiCE diagnostics is not installed, "Vida insulation Media":\3PP\Products\DiCE\SetupDiCE.exe
Sometime just running SetupDiCE.exe will correct a communication problem.

Ran a diagnostic in the Vida software and all results were good.

This is why it's always best to read faults first then proceed with suspected repairs. Does driver's display say "Starting prevented" or similar?

Can you see if the DiCE will light up when connected to the OBDII only (no USB to computer)? If not then the 12 V on the CARB connector isn't there, you may want to look for a recessed/broken/bent pin just in case, or a blown fuse
Example of Precision: Measure with a Micrometer, mark it with Chalk, and then cut it with an Axe.
Disclaimer: We (very) seldom do that

I'm beginning to wonder if the shop knock a CAN bus loose are failed to reconnect a CAN bus.

Failure to connect canbus will result in modules appearing red in Vida diagnostics.

Choose Network and choose each module in turn to see installed software. This way determines if Canbus reaches all modules.

As I mentioned earlier what does driver's display say when car won't start? If no message is present the key is matched to CEM/ECM

I would disconnect any module that was messed with and check the pins very carefully, to make sure they are all in place. Check And check all related fuses and relays, too. To me, that seems to be a good reason why the car just dies on the road. But I suggest contacting Henry. He and his protege have the software to see pretty deep into the computers, and they really know what they are doing... First hand experience speaking
