Finally got around to installing my battery tie down! Also took the time to remove some oxidation from my battery terminals.

Also, you know, poking around the engine bay and checking stuff out. I realized this bolt (14mm, lower torque bracket bolt) was loose....

I wonder if this is why I've had a rough/harsh engine shut-off rumble for such a long time.

I had to replace this bracket when I broke it two years ago. I wonder if I forgot to tighten this or if it worked itself loose... Will definitely check out later.

Tightened the wiper blade nut on the T5-R. Again. Exhausting job, wiped me out.

About a month ago I noticed 3 out of 4 CV boots leaking grease on the 96 855, so I parked it. This weekend I finally got it into the garage and the axles pulled. Will try to chip away at re-booting them this week. One of the outers is still intact but I will just remove the outer CV's on both sides do all 4 of boots.

My second attempt at replacing a fuel filter was far more successful, with no broken lines and minimal spillage. The bracket took some fiddling with to reattach but otherwise pretty quick.

Motivated, I tackled the right sway end link. It did not go as smoothly.

Then why the heck is there a key hole there? Volvos...

Believe I used to encounter the same thing with an old Jetta. Found that anytime I used the remote it would disarm and there wouldn't be an issue.

Was digging through VIDA and found that right above the defrost panel there is a line (trace) that apparently runs around the glass near the top for security that sometimes ends up with corrosion from a leaky wiper nozzle seal - which can trigger the alarm. Next time I get a chance to stick my eyeball to the glass I'll verify this.

Wow..check all those mount bolts, King of Queens. The steel into Al usually don’t loosen up much as they nicely electrochemically bond. I posted a cynical note here once about doing an entire clutch in 12 hours, then spending three to remove the upper torque rod mount bolts

That bracket is always a pain to get aligned. Glad it went with minimal spillage, though, that's always a plus when working with gas!

Maybe some kind of breakage sensor? I'll have to check that out if I feel like removing the tailgate panel ever again.
I'd love to be able to use the remote, but it's broken. I wish I knew what the heck was wrong with it, I've taken it apart and looked it over a million times. The buttons only work every now and again.

Added a new Volvo to the collection yesterday. '88 740 Turbo M46. Needs some love, but it was $300, so I won't complain too much!

My latest snafu on the '00 V70:

The lower bolt off the right sway end link wouldn't budge, and I even bent the splines on a genuine (not Evolve) Craftsman torx bit in the process. But hey, it looks like a turbo impeller!

I couldn't get a good hold with a vise grip, either, so I pulled out the grinder and nearly lost hope when there was so little bolt material left to manipulate yet too much to remove. Eventually, it relented.

The tie rod completes the AC Delco pair I got in January, with a solid part opposite the bolt, which takes a larger, 17mm nut and uses an 8mm hex counter hold instead of a T-30 torx. So far, so good!
