Thought I should resubmit with a different subject line.
Also, my son told me the car was running after the accident. He was able to drive to side of the highway. Turned off engine and waited for State Patrol. It would not crank when he was ready to go. No start , no crank.
My son had an accident with our 92 volvo 240. Rear ended and suv. Pushed in front of vehicle. Would not start for him at scene. I went to pick up and had to pull forward the front end just to get the hood up.
Have power. Can hear the fuel pump engage. No start / turnover though. Slight click sound by the coil. A friend was listening. All fuses look fine. No turnover.
Is there a fail safe to reset after an accident?
Any ideas?
He is safe but sore.
No fluid leaks, damage is cosmetic as far as I can tell. It is ugly!.
Thanks for your help. He now has a project vehicle.

92 240 No crank no start , post accident
Got the job done. Number of things to work on to start the vehicle. Wire (from battery + terminal) to starter became loose. I do not know if this was coincidental or not. Small wire on starter very loose. Tightened both up. still no crank. Had done tests on fuses, connections, relays, and they all checked out. Looked at the neutral safety connection on the gear select handle. Low and behold it was broke. Pushed the plastic piece to the park position and it started. Why that broke I do not know. It was about 3 months old.
Now I need to work on the front end with my son. Project car.
If anyone knows an inexpensive place to get the lights and turn signal sets let me know. The two salvage yards in our area had nothing in the yard.
Now on to the cosmetics! Hope this reply with help someone. Thank you all for everything over the years. Yosef
