Engine Shut Off at Stop Lights
I just rented a 2017 XC60 and it's one of those cars that the engine shuts off at the stop lights and then lurges into action when you let off the brake pedal. Do all Drive-E Volvos do that? I can't stand it! How long does a starter motor last in one of these things? Can that "feature" be disabled?

There's usually a button on the dash but I don't think it's possible to disable it permanently.
Pretty much all cars sold the last few years in Europe are the same.

The ones with the big screen you have to swipe to the second screen for the button or use the chrome thumbwheel on the console and switch to the Dynamic mode which eliminates the autostart automatically. I took some pictures of the 2018 XC90 T6 loaner I have had since Thursday. God I hope they really have my car ready Monday! Oh if it has the older dash design there is a physical button that looks like picture two center bottom of dash controls behind the shifter if I recall correctly to disable autostart. June

Does the touchscreen look as bad in real life as in your pictures? All grease and dust? :p
All electric is brilliant from a standstill. The only one I've driven yet is the Volvo C30 Electric that they only built 250 of. Feels like an electric go-cart to drive
For about 40 miles then the battery is out..

No it looks good in real life. This is a service loaner, so lots of different people drive it. The camera made it look terrible!Rattnalle wrote: ↑08 Apr 2018, 13:13 Does the touchscreen look as bad in real life as in your pictures? All grease and dust? :p

I drove my friend's Tesla years ago and it was crazy fast not to mention silent. I am not in love with the electric car. I hate the current trend in gasoline powered cars. Small engines, transmissions that shift constantly, autostart, no key among other things. June

BMW and Mercedes still do large engines. And sensible fuel tanks, who thought 50-55 l on a petrol car like Volvo's doing now was a good idea..? I really love the looks of the new Volvos but doubt I'll actually ever get one.June wrote: ↑08 Apr 2018, 13:42No it looks good in real life. From what I've seen from Mercedes the last 10 to 15 years they forgot the quality that used to be standard in every Benz. BMW has always been finicky. Even the British cars like RR are shadows of their former glory days such as the mid 90's Silver Spur. I'll just hang on to my S80.
