Tips for exhaust manifold (get in advance)

This thing has been nickle and diming me to death. Still not together after about 6 months (sat a month or two, now it's only on weekends since it's at a buddy's on the other side of town or waiting for parts). One step forward, two back. Latest is getting the exhaust manifold back on. Nobody has the correct exhaust manifold studs other than online (and not cheap either w/shipping). I ended up going to BelMetric . com and ordering ten S8X50FBLK studs ($15 total w/shipping). 42H Rockwell and has a 4mm hex built into the end which made it REAL easy to fully seat. Went to the parts store of Irish name and got the M8-1.25 flange nuts. Bought 8 instead of 12 (packs of 4) for some reason. Went to scavenge two more from the old studs and kept pulling the threads off the old studs, when I noticed it was a locking flange nut. Now I have the correct nuts on order thru the Irish-heritage place. Box of 20 for $8.99 (45 cents each) and show up tomorrow. The Dorman # is 432-308 for the box of 20. I'll have 10 spare should anyone in the NH/MA/VT/ME area need some.

Was buying new bolts necessary?

Any time I remove anything exhaust anywhere - its new hardware for me.

My mind automatically get to INTAKE manifold. Hence the confusion.
