We also pay about $160/hr labour rate here (but not Euro thankfully or US$!!).

With a 99 you should be good with the Vida, but remember you will need a laptop to work with this. Check in the Vida/Dice section of MVS as there was someone selling a 2014D version that he claimed ran on WIN 10 and I think it was Chrome also.

Why not check with the dealer and see what they will charge to check the codes for you? They are being really cheeky if they charge more than half an hour to do that. Buying Vida only makes sense if you plan to try to keep this Volvo for a while or replace with a newer Volvo or sell the software on.

That would tend to say that either the ECC unit is bad or both the servo motors for temp control are bad. Sounds more like the ECC unit.

When you said it was working, how were you testing it? Was it connected to the ECC unit and were you using that to control it to prove function?

yes. took the servo of the HVAC box and tested the function of the servo with the heat high/cold. the servo moved with no issues or sounds

I think it is the ECC unit, but still think having it checked for codes is the way to go to hopefully prevent you wasting more time and effort on it. When you re-fitted the motors, did you check the position of the flaps matched where they were when you removed the servo?

yes. if you get the position wrong (atleast on the heat servos) they just do anything (tried that you see).

soo. i could have solved this WAY sooner..

i bought a knock-off vida dice with software.

ran a serch for faults in the ECC unit.. and don't you know. there was stored codes on just about evertyhing there.

the fan had a code (i have replaced it due to the old one dying)
the fan resistor pack had a faultcode
the cabintempsensor had a faultcode. saying that it had exceeded 4.9volts, and it would then just assume the temperature was at a set value.
the inlet temp said the exact same thing..

soo. removed all the faults. ran a servomotor adaptation. and now i got adequate air from the vents.

and its even a bit hotter too now thet the tempsensors are being used again...

who knew.. all this back and forth. and all it took was a cheap chines plastic box :)

Thanks to the folks in here the had the patience answering my dumb questions

Glad you got there in the end. Sometimes you just have to get the codes read......! At least you now have the kit to check for any other faults that may come up in the future.
