Hi,
All of these "drive cycles" are nuts, more like "drive the owner crazy cycles" if you ask me.
There should be tests that can be performed right way to find out if anything is not working. There can always be longer term tests too, but the quick ones would tell you right away if you are going to have to fix anything.

Re: 1998 v70 Drive Cycle (For Inspection)
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.
1998 v70, non turbo, FWD, base model, on the road from April 2nd, 2015 to July 26, 2023.

It’s a little blue pill you take before working on your Volvo.

Hi,
Does that require a substription to Volvo or something like i had been reading about?

The versions you buy don’t require subscriptions unless you are doing keys and things like this
I’m not sure if it works on your 1998 though,

Hi,
Oh ok thanks. I might look into this as it could be useful.
I got used to the service light always being lit now though, so that doesnt bother me any more. Well, it stays lit for 2 minutes then goes out. No big deal and im not going to spend 100 bucks just for a tool that does only the reset on that

Ah. Thats not the check engine light - thats the service light. Thats why it doesn't say 'Check Engine'
Thats just a counter that reminds you to service it - its the electronic version of a post-it.

Yes, but that video also makes it very clear that we need a special "tool" to reset the service light in models 1997 and 1998 (or was it 1996 to 1998). In any case, mine needs the tool and so the little button push key turn trick does not work in mine. Dang you Volvo.
I checked for this when i first got the car and found the "tool" is an electronic gadget that plugs into the OBD2 connector so it is easy to use, but it was going for something like 100 bucks at the time. The guy in the vid says they are too hard to find now though.

You can
- put a 19mm piece of tape over the light
- Wait for my next Jersey run and I can try the AUTEL on it. Should work
