Any complaints about the v8's ? ?

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Any complaints about the v8's ? ?

Post by bratwurstnrice »

Hi All,

I had a look at the "major repairs for s80's" topic and looked around and the impression i get is that there are not a lot of concerns about the v8 engines. Am I correct or not ? ?

Balance shaft issue seems to be managable and after '06 not a problem. Anything else? I am putting priority on checking out bushings - I think most volvos with any mileage on them are probably driving around with worn out bushings. Transmission - for a 2008 are they ok with the v8? I will do the regular flushing starting out with a drain and fill because I don't know a lot about the maintenance history. Watching out for misfire due to coil ground wires, and I have only once a pending code for fuel pressure (pressure sensor or pump ?)

Great engine with lots of power and cleanest oil I've ever seen, but jeez there is not a lot of space to work on it that's for darn sure. Anyone who can help me out with a top 10 list, that would be great.

Thanks.

Nice! When looking for one I found lot`s of 2007`s some `08`s and very few 09's or 10's. Then I figured out the financial crisis of 08 put a damper on auto sales and luxury car sales in particular. In my opinion they should have sold really well, they really are kind of special. But when money is tight expensive cars suffer and that`s what ended production.

I HAVE ONE AND SO FAR THE ONLY THINGS ARE : REAR MAIN SEAL LEAK, TRANSMISSION FLARES/BUMPS IN SHIFTING. OTHER THAN THAT IT'S A GREAT CAR. THE TAILLIGHT HAD A BROKEN CIRCUIT BOARD ON IT SO IT KEPT SAYING BRAKE LIGHT OUT, FIXED THAT AND THE WASHER JUG KEPT SAYING LOW WASHER FLUID, CHANGED THE SENSOR AND IT FIXED THAT. LOW OIL MESSAGE KEPT COMING UP DUE TO FAULTY LOW OIL SENSOR. CHANGED THAT AND NOW IT'S FINE. SMALL QUIRKS BUT FOR THE PRICE I PAID IT WAS WELL WORTH IT. A GENTLEMAN'S HOT ROD VOLVO LOL
