DIM issue on a 2003 XC70 with 210k miles

Hey all,

so I have a new fun thing happening to our XC70, the two DIM windows under tach and speed often start up blank, then after a bit they all fill in (odometer, temp, cruise) but it's frozen and updates every now and then... then after a bit of driving, maybe 10-15 minutes they all work and AOK. Everything else works, the messages on far left comes on when hitting the message button on the turn handle. I've tried some Googling but not found anything specific for this, I'm hesitant to send DIM for repair as it seems more like a computer glitch than malfunction display... Any thoughts on what it could be would be greatly appreciated.

The 2003 were problematic. Not always the same behavior as there is more than one electronic component that fails on the circuit board.

First check the rear connector, the problem is if the key is in the ignition, removing the connector will trigger and SRS message and light ($100 to clear at Volvo). Best is to disconnect the battery and send the DIM for repair at a good Ebay member (DIM repair service) with a good feedback.
