Have an 03 wagon and it intermittently gives me problems in reverse.
Usually after driving forward (but not always) after stopping and shifting into reverse, car shudders/shakes very aggressively. Shudder is lessened when taking foot off gas and just letting it coast.
Is this a fluid issue or control module issue?
I do perform regular trans flush and fill.
Have 240,000 miles on it.
Any ideas are appreciated.

The mileage is quite high so there could be more possibilities.
I'd look into the engine mounts, especially the upper torque one on top of the engine. Maybe have someone open the engine and look at the engine when it does this, may help finding what exactly is shaking. May as well have to do with the awd drive shaft or awd system.

Add to the list rear wheel Ebrake shoes, they can delaminate and bind up.oragex wrote: ↑15 May 2018, 14:03 The mileage is quite high so there could be more possibilities.

Thanks for the replies.
Engine mounts were replaced about 1.5 years ago and just recently did the upper engine torque mount about 3 months ago.
EBrake shoes are relatively new also as I redid brake shoes/rotors/calipers all around.
After thinking on it a bit more, it seems to be worse when the wheels are turned and starting to reverse. So, when I drive home, I pull up to the drive way so that I can back the car down the driveway - nose pointing out. It is sometimes, but not always, that it acts this way with the shudder. Seems to abate when the wheels are turned to straight and I just let it coast in instead of accelerate in...
