2004 xc90 electrical issues

I was driving the other day and out of nowhere my stereo, dash lights and basically everything electrical shut off. My engine was still running but seemed to be a low power. I turned the car off and back on again and everything worked. It did it 2 more times that day and hasn't done it since. The check engine light is not on or any other warning lights and appears to be driving totally normal. Any help or ideas?

We see this kind of issue once in a while, unfortunately I don't remember the owner to updating with a solution.

All in all, just be careful about mechanics including the main dealer. They will make you spend money without a guarantee of fixing it.

The best here is to find a good Volvo independent specialist that will read the codes with a special software called Vida. Maybe try searching on local.google.com for an european or volvo garage

Among the possibilities would be the CEM, DEM (awd), firewall harness, alternator, etc. Only an honest specialist could really help.

No nothing but the key... so just last night it did it again. Now when I turn the car on everything comes on then shuts off right away. It’s basically everything on my dash, stereo, and turn signals. The lights still work and the heat/ac still works. Oh and the check engine light is on now. Ugh!! I wish the Volvo mechanic could’ve got me in this week.
