P2111 code
P2111 code
MY daughter's 2004 XC70 had trouble starting this morning and when it finally did, it ran rough. Stepping on the gas did nearly nothing to engine speed. My scanner picked up a P2111 code and I have been reading a lot about what this is and the numerous fixes. I just want to have it bottom lined...does anyone here have any experience with this? What should my first attempt to fix be? Cleaning the throttle body, or is that useless? Any insight would be helpful and appreciated!

On that year/model the throttle unit connector is problematic. I would check that first.
Check the wiring for Opens, Shorts, Oxidation.
Check for any dirt, grim the may interfere with the mechanics of the throttle inside and out.
Check the spring.
-------------------------------------------------
ECM-91B7 (P2111) Throttle unit. Faulty signal
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) information
M2302863 Condition
Diagnostic trouble code (DTC) ECM-91B7 is stored if the engine control module (ECM), when attempting to adapt the throttle unit, registers that the movements of the throttle is impeded or that the return spring in the throttle unit is not functioning correctly.
Substitute value
Depending on the fault, the engine control module (ECM) can cut off the supply to the damper motor in the throttle unit. The throttle will then attempt to set itself to the return position.
Possible source
Driving/Hesitates/surges/Unsure when/at all times
Driving/Engine stalls/During acceleration
Driving/Engine stalls/During deceleration
Starting/Engine does not start/Unsure when/at all times
Driving/Engine stalls/At steady speed
Warning lights and chimes/Malfunction Indicator Light ("Check engine" light) indication/no indication

- Faulty signal:
The throttle is sticking or is blocked (oil film, dust etc.)
Contact resistance or oxidation in the terminals between the engine control module (ECM) and the throttle unit
Open-circuit, short-circuit to ground or short-circuit to supply voltage in the wiring for the damper motor in the throttle unit
Short-circuit to each other in the wiring for the damper motor in the throttle unit
Defective throttle unit.
