Greetings.
I've followed the instructions for replacing the power antenna mast in a U.S. 1996 850 GLT, but can't extract the broken mast from the motor housing. Instructions calling for removing a 16mm nut don't seem to apply. I've opened and cleaned the housing for the plastic spline and found no broken bits inside. The mast seems to be permanently attached to the housing by a gray compression fitting. Am I simply stuck with a part that has the mast permanently attached? I can email pics if that would help.
Many thanks for any assistance.

A pic would help...
I replaced my antenna mast and had to completely remove the motor unit because part of the white cable had broken off inside. Once I opened up the reel I was able to fish out the broken piece. In reading your post, I'm not quite sure what you opened up, but it wasn't difficult to open anything up on mine.
