Dielectric grease on ABS pins

Post by woodycaldercloggs »

Does anyone know if putting Dielectric grease on the ABS module pins where the harness attaches to would cause any problems. :?:
I have a 1998 V70 and an intermittent problem where the ABS light comes on from time to time for no apparent reason. :?

It wouldn't hurt.
You have a failing abs module, dielectric grease won't solve a problem.
Contact matty moo about it or...if you know how to solder....re-solder abs module yourself.

OP is based in France. There was a thread recently from an MVS member in France who had a company repair his ABS module for him in Europe and he was really happy with the result. Guys name is Manovlov in Grenoble.

Check the last page, the company was called Recar.

Hello there,

Dielectric grease helps to prevent oxidation and provides some lubrication, that's about all it does. It does not improve conduction on contacts that are already oxidized. So if you are using this on electrical 'pins' then it might help keep conduction higher over time, but they must be clean to begin with.
You might also notice a difference by unplugging and plugging back in several times, as most connectors have a built in "wiping" action that cleans the contacts as they mate so that could help too, then apply the dielectric grease for long term oxidation prevention.
Note that the grease is non conductive so it never aides in conduction, it just helps prevent oxidation which hampers conduction so in the long term it helps when the contacts are already clean enough to make good contact.

In the above i am assuming that you are using this on electrical contacts of some type. For mechanical parts it would help to lubricate but then i would have to recommend using a lubricant that is specifically made for the actual application.
I’ve been driving a Volvo long before anyone ever paid me to drive one.
That's probably because I've been driving one since 2015 and nobody has offered to pay me yet.
