Thanks.. I did get excited when I read Erie Vo-vo was near NYC but then I looked it up. Yeah a bit further away. :-)

I will keep you and our geographical connections in mind. I hope to spend some time shortly reviewing my options and come up with a plan. I really really don't want this to be the end of this car so I am planning on eventually replacing the subframe. I just have to figure out where I'll find the time.
The idea of a perfectly good car getting totaled because of a tweaked frame just drives me nuts.

I think many of us can relate to that. I see many cars in junkyards that could probably be saved, but the issues are sometimes fairly minor. Due to age and value of the vehicles they are not deemed viable to repair.

I guess relatively close to you is better than my options which are 12+ hours and a ferry ride to Vancouver island to get to a specialist Volvo yard! You have a good network of guys over there on the East Coast who are often able to help out. You are lucky!

Big thing will be to get the right steering rack. If I recall, there are two kinds, one being TRW, the other ???

I can't imagine they mount the same.

Its isnt a bad drop, having just done my P2 Clutch last fall.

Oh boy.. So what you're saying is that I might find a subframe that fits my car but I might get one where my steering rack doesn't fit.
I had not thought about that.

I just checked my previous order with FCP and I have a TRW rack. I guess I'll have to measure/take photos of ow my rack mounts and compare to any rack I find.

There is anecdotal evidence in the forum of owners having cars spec'd for TRW, but having retrofitted SMI racks. I would "speculate" the mount pattern is the same. But as the sage moderator says, a point to consider. Maybe dealer or indie can inform you?
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

I think We could start a thread on 1999 subframes and gather the INFOS we need here with pictures as needed.

I’ve got both a 99 FWD and wcm has a 99 XC here To kick that off
