Changed fuel pump 1998 volvo v70xc.

No i didnt find out what it was for. But i looked around the whole wire harnsss area and couldnt see anything that it could even fit into. Also i ended up not running the new wires i just spliced them at the pump. To much of a hassle after all the crap

I hear you and that was what I was trying to say. It could be the motor has different applications and may not be needed for yours.

If I could remember where I stashed the old pump for my 'R' I could have checked for you but currently it is MIA!

Does your fuel gauge read correctly?

No my fuel guage isnt reading correct. But it wasnt before i replaced it either. I just do the 300miles and fill lol

Also. My trip meter reads the mpg i use on average and current mpg at my current speed and acceleration, but it doesnt read the miles to empty its just blank.

On an AWD there are 2 level sensors, one is part of the fuel pump you replaced and the other is in the 'Ejector' unit on the other side of the saddle tank in the mirror position to your fuel pump. The car takes an average of the 2 to work correctly.

Any tips for closing up the access hole i cut for the fuel pump i put some black silicone and aluminum tape over it.

When I did mine this Is how I sealed the the access hole. I used urethane being a Autoglass tech is the best body sealer I have available. What is not picture is a small plate set over the edges and riveted on before sealing. Also pictured is I ran the wires through a rubber grommet then ran the wires in the wire harness protector up to the back.
