Radio Upgrade?

Post by DavidLee20 »

Hi! I'm looking for new android car stereo and want to install Seicane car stereo in my 2012 xc90. How to install it? Is it difficult to install this by myself or to ask the professional to help?

I don't believe one can retrofit a third party stereo to the XC90. It is my understanding the radio is an integrated part of many systems. Checking on Crutchfield yields no results.

Lots of folk have done it, do an internet search for "replace factory radio xc90" and you'll see a number of ways to make it work.

Okay - I see people have done it. http://caraudiotips.blogspot.com/2013/0 ... tereo.html

As I stated the radio is integrated into the entire system - so one has to keep parts of the old unit and find a location to hide it and keep it connected. It is not plug and play, but rather a patch and work around.

The process does not look too difficult, but it depends on your skills. Follow the write ups and you should be fine.

Repost of a stickie- http://forums.swedespeed.com/showthread ... C90-Solved

Not aware of the need to keep the old HU in the car, might have been an issue with older models, believe it is not a concern in the XC90 (at least it's not being noted as a dependency as far as I can see).

*edit- added forum stickie instead of multiple links

Looks like you have it all figured out. To avoid using any parts off the old system just buy all the required modules.

Post pictures and tips of the process. A list of what parts you used and their prices would really help out.

Please do. I’ll make it a Repair Database writeup.
