Yes THAT hose
abscate wrote: 28 May 2018, 16:26 ITs easy after you figure out $130 is a lot cheaper than 3 hours of fighting the fitting which you ruin anyway.

Cut the fitting off the receiver and you are home free.
"You are correct, sir" exactly how it went, but the threads had galled, and the nut was no longer serviceable.

Pull the fan shroud and passenger side headlight, disconnect the ps pressure line (on an <98) and there's plenty of room to work.
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

Man, why does Proparts have to make a hose that's one-third the price of the Volvo OE! Do we have documentation of this Proparts hose flying apart? (Like subframe bushings!)

Part of me is kind of glad that it costs so much to pollute and destroy the environment...

Car easily took in a can and a half of refrigerant and my brother had to shut the car off because it was too cold it there! Hahaha

We also sprayed down his receiver with some anti-rust spray paint. That thing looks like it's going to crumble into pieces... If I had to guess what he'll have to replace next, my bet would be on that. (That thing looks like a pain to replace!
That was fun! Thank you!

Have you guys found a replacement pump oil for that HF Pittsburgh brand ?

I need to replace mine and I can’t seem to type and crossmatch.

I think pretty much any pump oil will do.

MDK here... I've been in the scrapyard, salvage yard, junkyard... whatever you want to call it. I found a 98 V70 with virtually brand new headlights... pulled them... installed them on my 98 xc70... also yesterday found a 98 AWD with a good passenger side axle pulled it .. installed it. Today I went back and pulled the rear shock absorbers... installed them. I found a new alternator.... going back for that. Yep....is that ok?

Gotta love good junkyard finds! I haven't been to my local yard in a while. I'm sure they're wondering where I've been!

This Robinair vacuum pump oil seems to get good reviews... I'm going to go this route.

Been really busy with work picking up and haven’t had time to baby the v70 so it threw a temper tantrum by kicking the front intake cam seal a 1/2” out and pouring oil all over everything.

So that got me focused on getting my winter hoard of parts on the car and over the past two days I’ve replaced:
- the leaky cam seal
- most rad hoses
- the engine mount that attaches to the torque mount

I don’t work fast so just that’s been a lot

Tomorrow I’m going to lock the cams again and replace the rear cam seals, belts, WP, tensioners. Might do the front exhaust seal but taking the cvvt hub off seems like an opportunity for mistakes so I’m not sure, plus it doesn’t seem to be leaking.

I was kind of intimidated by the timing aspects of the cam seal job so yesterday I just did the seal and then made sure it ran well after reassembly kind of as a test run.
