How to bleed air from power steering system
Changed the power steering fluid in my 96 850 and its foaming and the steering seems a little rough. How do you bleed air out ?

Typically it self bleeds with use. Make sure it's not low.

I usually put the front end on jacks, open the reservoir cap, and with the engine running, will then cycle lock-to-lock numerous times.

Agree cycling lock-to-lock a few times with engine running and cap off or resting on top of reservoir should push through any air as the pump pushes fluid and the lock-to-lock cylcing pushes the fluid through the lines.

Cycle the wheel all the way both ways before starting the car in the morning before the fluid becomes foamy. Check the level before starting as well. That was the process for Ford's many years ago and it worked. June

It's hard work turning the wheel with the engine off
I've myself just driven the car at low speed turning back and forth between the end points and it's done the trick so far. If it foams it'll take a while but every time it gets a bit better and a bit less foamy.

I meant every turn of the wheel gets better. I've never had more air than two or three turns each way or so to get it back to normal. Just disconnecting the pump doesn't seem to let very much air in.June wrote: ↑30 May 2018, 08:26I guess it depends if you want better, or fixedRattnalle wrote: ↑30 May 2018, 08:11It's hard work turning the wheel with the engine off
