99 s70 awd, p0756
Re: 99 s70 awd, p0756
Hey cleopez. MDK here. I had a 99 S70 AWD last year. I spent three years working with a certified Volvo tech. He was trained by Volvo but ran an independent shop. I know the module your talking about. It may need replacing...it on top of tranny under air box. Wolf head brand trans fluid has a universal synthetic I use in my 04 S 60 R. There is a drain plug 26 millimeter on side of transmission. FILL ONLY THROUGH DIPSTICK! .... what's a pnp? Hope this helps

What’s the level and quality of the tranny fluid?
Unless it’s a really nice red a drain and fill with cheap fluid is the first thing I would look at. For fluid type determine whether you have a 4 or 5 speed.
With a drain and fill you’ve got a (slim) chance of fixing the issue or making it a lot better, it’s cheap and easy, and probably most importantly by looking at a tub of the old fluid you can see if there’s metal shavings, which looks like glitter in the fluid.
If there is it’s game over for that tranny.
If that doesn’t help at all and you still wanted to try and save the thing I’d go for used parts on eBay if possible just because there’s a solid chance you’re getting rid of that tranny and you don’t want to pour money into it unnecessarily.

What’s the deal with old updates? Do you get them free with other service still?
Most warranty claims have a ten year clock as I found out on my VW ( kudos to Cooley Vw in ALBANY for honoring by it)

So, @MDk you recommend replacing the solenoids or park neautral position? Also fluid is not as red, but i dont see any metal shavings. Also im trying to save the transmission, as i think there is nothing wrong but electrical. As i cleared the code it shifts fine until it reach 3rd or 4th gesr and it goes back to limp mode when it makes the hard shift. Im going to try to do a drain and fill and cleared the codes. Can the speedsensor on transmission cause this too?
MDK here.. the limp mode trans issues that I saw come in Tom's garage did it all gears not just the last two. It's really hard to give advice over the phone... well you know... can't really see the trouble. If the fluid is sorta clean and doesn't have a burnt smell or shaving..it may be a solenoid or wiring issue. Those transmissions.. that year are pretty bullet proof ( pre Ford) . I probably wouldn't give up on it even if it means having Volvo at least check it out. A 100$ for a diagnostic from a good Volvo shop is better than a transmission shop... your call though... I this helps

Someone hit the green button. Every time the green button rings, a pre 1999 IAC gets cleaned

So an update here. I did 2 transmission drain and fill. Because my mistake thought fluid was clean but it was not. So got the transmission fluid looking as red as possible. Now this helped with my hard shifting issue i was having it seem to have help but the thing is still getting into limp mode and same dtc comes back. The transmission shift fine and all gears no banging or slippage, but crusing around 30 mph for like 5 mins will trigger the p0756 dtc along with a p1618 my next stop is have Volvo scan for that.

It could be a lot of things. You haven’t really given enough diagnostic information and Car history for internet help.
When was the last time and miles the transmission fluid was changed ?
