Connecting Pins 87 To 30 To Start Car - Continuos Clicking With Ignition

Just moved the other XC70 form the yard and need to move it back. Now, at the turn of the ignition to start, I hear continuous clicking until I release the key. This I feel would be the starter . . . right? Since am not ready to tackle that now, can I just do the connecting the Pin 87 to Pin 30 to start the car, just to move it back to the yard? If yes, how is that done. Maybe I did not search well enough, but, need a good instruction on how to do the pin connections and on which relay.

If the starter is clicking, check the battery.

I have the battery a full charge right before starting it again. I remember (maybe it’s a Volvo thingy) sometimes a new battery is some solutions. Though this battery is about six years old. Will try another battery. Will send an update. Thanks for the info.

When you think you have a full charge, take the battery to Autozone and have them bench test it.

If the battery sat for a long time without a float charger, good chance it has a heavy build-up of lead sulfate crystals. It is possible to recover a newer battery from sulfation but, six years old ... the odds are not good but not impossible.

I got another older battery, fully charged it and it started the XC. I have moved it back to the backyard to deal with it latter. Thanks for your info.

Store the battery/batteries on float charge (trickle lowest amperage) as a peventive measure to avoid this problem again. I have taken batteries that where in bad shape and restored them with a long float charge. It might take weeks on float charge but it not like it is needed now.
