Turns out the 6ga I put in above has remained, with no sudden drop in reported level as above. THAT'S good...sleddriver wrote: ↑14 Apr 2018, 12:41 Something odd happend yesterday with regard to the fuel level sensor reading on the dash. The night before I put in about 4 ga. Afterwards, the gauge read 6ga total. There was some gas in the tank already. Yesterday morning, the gauge read fine. While driving later, I noticed the 'fuel low" light come on! Yet I'd only driven about 25mi so far. (I reset the trip meter when I gassed up). Thought I must have a leak so I looked under the back. Smelled no gas and saw no wet area. Thought maybe the fuel level sender was stuck. So I added 6ga from the pump. Level is now back up, so the sender unit did not come apart (very unlikely).
I've noticed lately the sled using more fuel than I remember. All in town driving. Something is up. I noticed someone mention that P0-455 can cause a drop in MPG due to the ECM adjusting for it. I'm very skeptical on this. Built in MPG penalty for ignoring -455? BTW, I did recently replace the air filter. It had been in there too long. I also disconnected the battery long enough to reset everything that's electrically resetable.
Thoughts?

Update: It's been about a month now since my tank drop. No return of P0-455 since then! Not even a CEL! Given the traffic here, I definitely have plenty of opportunities to be sitting at 0 MPH 17 min. after key on. It should have found at least one opportunity to run this test.
So it took dropping the tank, greasing both the FP and FLS gaskets to slay the demon....finally? Count me as cautiously optomistic.

Nice! I was going to grease the FP gasket when I replaced it the other day, but I didn't. P0455 promptly returned... this car is driving me insane.

Update:
Recently the CEL glowed and I immediately thought "the dragon returneth". I read the code using a Nexus 7 + Torque lite + Bluetooth OBDII interface. Lo & behold, it was some other code I don't recall ever seeing. I was so pleased it wasn't P0455 I immediately erased whatever it was and promptly forgot. Nothing major.
So now we're at the end of June 2018 and the dragon has remained DEAD!
Unbelieveable........

Thanks for keeping this thread up to date!
I’ve been running my AC constantly to keep P0455 from reappearing (and it’s been in the mid 90s up until today so it’s gonna be on anyway), hopefully I can get enough monitors ready to pass inspection.

Want to hear something weird? I still have the original J and L hose from the factory! No tears nor leaks. Even down here in the blistering heat. Go figure that.....

That really is crazy! I need to check out my hoses. I’m convinced I missed a small leak somewhere when I looked last time. I have no idea what else could be causing the code.

My 1999 has had two replacement J and L hoses, it looks like in my climate they live about 7-9 years max

Woah, dead thread revival!
I'm gonna do it because I hate when threads go unsolved and disappear into the archives... turns out my problems were the L- and J- hoses. I replaced those last year (not long after the final post on this thread, actually) before I got the car inspected. I just used some heater hose/fuel hose/whatever AutoZone had that day to replace them, since I didn't feel like dropping $60 at the dealer who would likely take 2 weeks to get them anyway.
These codes have not reappeared since then, so it's safe to say they solved the problem.
