What year did a Volvo become a Ford/Geely?

Can someone please tell me what year did Volvo stop becoming what I like to call a "true" MADE IN SWEDEN Volvo?
Was it 2000, 2001?

Volvo Cars were sold to Ford in -99. The P2 platform was thus the last developed when they were still owned by the Volvo Corporation.

Geely bought the car corporation in 2009. They've also bought a large chunk of the Volvo Corporation this year.

If anything Volvo became more Swedish again after Geely bought it. Ford never invested in the company, Geely has so far.

AB Volvo 1927 - 1998, Ford 1999 - 2009, Geely 2010 - present. Volvo still has two plants in Sweden.

Globalism means that its difficult to describe where a brand really is from anymore. Does it matter where the brand's HQ is located? Or where they produce the product? Is Ford Mexican? Is Toyota American?

One car plant, one engine plant. The engine plant supplies engines to Belgium as well AFAIK.

Nothing is from anywhere anymore

Geely is building a large development centre in Gothenburg. Will that make Geely Swedish or Gothenburg Chinese..?

Well the people who run and work for each corporation are certainly Earthlings I am hesitant to call the corporations themselves Earthlings.

The window sticker on a brand new full boat SUV at a Volvo dealership showed that the transmission was made in China.
