P 80 brake caliper rebuild

Post by JimBee »

cn90 wrote and illustrated a nice tutorial on this. I've tried a couple and if the piston hasn't seized and isn't rusty, the vast majority is like eating cake. However, the last step, getting the outer lip of the dust boot over the piston and into its groove near the head of the piston has stymied me.

Has anyone successfully done this? What am I missing?

BTW: The seal and boot kit for a front caliper is less than $4.00 at O'Reilly Auto Parts. Rears are $5 and change.
