'05 V50 cranks strong but no fire

Post by Sisujoel »

Purchased my V50i in April with 147,000 miles for $1700. It now has 154,000. Minimal service records but I do know timing belt and some suspension parts have been replaced since 125,000. I was getting an intermittent error code for the Variable Valve Timing sensor but have not serviced or replaced that yet as it is intermittent. New tires, new windshield, relined the headliner, cleaned drainage for sunroof, new battery, oil change and detailing. I do have a wobble in the steering at high speed that needs to be addressed but here's the issue I need to figure out ASAP:

Car has been running great with excellent (32-34 mpg) hwy gas mileage. Moved the vehicle from my driveway to park on the street out front of my house. Go back later to move the car back and it won't start. No warning that something may be about to fail. After reading here and on-line I think it could be the fuel pump. Test with a fuel pressure gauge and it reads 44 psi which seems fine. Replaced the fuel pressure sensor. Also bought a fuel filter to replace. Still no luck so if it isn't fuel it's fire, right?

What should I be looking at next? What are the most likely reasons the car runs one minute and the next it doesn't? It cranks over strong but not the slightest indication it wants to start.

Thanks for getting me and my V50 back on the road. I drive Uber and Lyft so the sooner the better!

Turns out the F34 fuse was blown. Previous owner installed a 5 amp fuse instead of a 10 amp. I'll know better if this happens again.
