Vida/Dice

Post by MDK »

Hey boys and girls.. MDK here. Not sure if this wrong or illegal or something. But I wanted to tell everyone about a young man in Colorado who built me a laptop to run the the 2014 D vida/dice box. I found the box on Craigslist for 65$ brand new. Then via swedespeed found a man David Leach who built me a laptop a Dell actually with 4 G for about 250$ . So, you can see the value as the dealership charges 95$ per diagnostic. I have a S 60 R and a V50 T5 so this hardware has already paid for itself. I was able to clear all my codes in the T 5 last night. I now can see everything they see. Great guy and great investment. Just throwing this out there... rolling on. MDK

First step is to clear those and see which ones come back and how quickly.

Erik's advice is wise. Assuming they all come back, the first 2 could be disconnected, open/shorted wiring. Meaning very cheap ($$) to fix. 0206 Could just be corrected with a clear, assuming it's no longer going to get wet. The siren module code means it needs new batteries. Cheapest fix is to pull it, split it open and just replace the $10 worth of batteries and put it back together. If the circuit board inside is damaged from battery acid, then you'll need a whole new siren module. ~$250 for the whole kit w/new bolt & rivets. Easy job. I went that route when mine died. I didn't have time to perform open module battery surgery.

Your position sensor code seems unusual. Probably a clear will resolve it, since the light is green. I just recently had a problem with my rear left sensor. I couldn't do a SUM cal because the voltage was too low. Told me I needed a new sensor. Turned out the arm connecting the sensor to the chassis was physically broken. One end had rusted bad enough to break the connection. The car felt like it was in advanced all the time, and the headlights were pointing way down. I replaced the arm ($20) and redid the SUM cal. Sensor was fine.

TLDR; Most if not all those codes could be cheap to free to fix. Don't assume the worst!

MDK here... thanks guys for looking into my post. I really appreciate you taking the time to read it and the support. I cleared a few of the codes but the CEM came back as well as the SUM. I'm really bad at wiring. First of all I'm literally color blind... so that's why it's so tough for me. I'm a good mechanic though. I can disassemble the entire car and put it back together...no problem. The R car sits for the most part... I just bought a 2005 V50 T 5 wagon and I still have my 1998 V70XC .. so just have to decide what to do... take care all... rolling on!!

I have a Dell laptop with VIDA version 2012 all installed and working.
I will sell it for $125, guaranteed to work.
If you want a brand new (more expensive) DICE unit I have one of those too.
I will sell the new in box DICE for $110.

$225 for the pair, ($10 discount).
Mod note. Jim passed away in early 2022, his contributions to this forum are immortal, and he is missed. RIP

I appreciate that JRL..I really do. I have a vida/ dice... whatever that means...2014D and a Dell laptop with 4 G that Im stumbling around in the dark with. I watched a video from xemodex? And saw how he pulled the CEM out. Not looking forward to that. Heard it was a common design problem for the 04 S 60. Ugh... I know we can't go back but I like the pre 1982 models... dealing with it and rolling on
