Fuel Economy / MPG display on DIM?

I've noticed on many other photos of P2 cars that the DIM can display fuel economy information, which mine doesn't do. I'm wondering if that's an option that had to be purchased and programmed at the factory or dealer, or is there a way to activate it after the fact? Is it perhaps the kind of feature that could be activated through VIDA/DiCE?

Trip computer
The trip computer stores information gathered from several systems in your car and has four menus that can be displayed in the text window.

1. Driving distance on current fuel reserve
2. Average fuel consumption
3. Current fuel consumption
4. Average speed

NOTE: Warning messages from the car's monitoring systems will override the trip computer function. If a warning message is displayed in the text window while you are using the trip computer, you must acknowledge the message by pressing button A. Press button A again to return to the trip computer function.

Trip computer controls
The four trip computer functions can be accessed by twisting control B one step at a time in either direction. Twisting a fifth time returns you to the original function. The trip computer can be reset (current data will be erased from system memory) by pressing RESET (button C).

Ok. So since mine only has button A, it’s not equipped for the other functions.

I found it, for the 2001 V70 the trip computer was part of the optional Touring Package.

For the 2001 V70, the Touring Package was an option for the 2.4 and 2.4T models, but standard equipment on the T5 model.

Could it be that it's only about the stalk? Maybe the installing a used stalk with the A button will make the function come alive?

(note the stalks have changed around 2005 and are not compatible)

Hope this helps and is also accurate for US sales.
